Legislative Committee
This is the committee that interacts most closely with legislators as the Unity Michigan Coalition tries to achieve our benchmark of public statements of support for nondiscrimination protections. The two main components of this committee are the lobbyists who speak to elected officials and the educational teams that consist of policy directors and local advocates to educate elected officials on the need for nondiscrimination protections.

Field Committee
This is the committee that does the most programmatic work related to the Unity Michigan Coalition outcomes concerning nondiscrimination protections. This committee as a whole is the organizing body that connects local advocates, grass tops, and grassroots with elected officials to educate them on the needs of nondiscrimination protections. Through our experience, we know that field is responsible for directly talking to and identifying socially responsible voters. However, we also know that assembling specific groups to outreach to business and labor leaders, people of faith, people of color, and conservatives are important. These specific working groups will be housed under field.

Professional Development Committee
The Professional Development Committee is the committee dedicated to attracting and retraining talented LGBT people in Michigan. The committee will do this largely through the creation of a LGBT leadership development database with associated menu of development opportunities and professional development days for advocates working on nondiscrimination issues.

Communications
